Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, held talks behind the doors.
The head of state congratulated his Kazakh counterpart and the multi-ethnic people of Kazakhstan on Independence Day (December 16).
The Central Asian States leaders expressed confidence that the negotiations would give a new strong momentum to the development of the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan strategic partnership and alliance. Mirziyoyev noted that Kazakhstan is the closest and most reliable partner of Uzbekistan.
"The Uzbek and Kazakh peoples are not only close neighbors but also brothers and sisters connected by common historical heritage, cultural and spiritual values. This is our priceless asset, which we value and will continue to cherish. We have the same destiny, we have a common future, I believe in it," the leader of Uzbekistan stressed.
He also noted the spike in bilateral trade which has reached nearly 5 billion dollars.
