December 19. Uzbekistan wants to attract 4.5 billion dollars of foreign loans in 2023. Finance Minister Timur Ishmetov announced this at the meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
Ishmetov said that 2.5 billion dollars of the loan will be used to support the state budget.
"Last year, we planned to receive 4 billion dollars in foreign debt. But the pandemic started. And now, it is necessary to scale up the amount of debt by 5 billion dollars. We plan to reduce borrowing by $4.5 billion next year. The maximum indicator of the budget deficit should be 3 per cent. This means we will also reduce external borrowing to cover the deficit. 2.5 billion dollars will be used to finance the budget, df the 4.5 billion dollars next year, " the minister said.
