Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has inked a law on standardization that focuses on measures aimed at protecting the lives, health, and property of citizens and the environment. The republic’s national standardization system includes the following agencies:
Agency for Technical Regulation (ATR) under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade;
National Standards Body;
bodies of state and economic management;
technical committees for standardization.
The standardization plan can be adopted from the following perspective:
short-term (up to 1 year);
middle (from 1 to 5 years);
long-term (from 5 to 10 years).
The national standardization body maintains a single information base of standards.
Categories of standards include:
national standards;
International (regional) standards;
standards of foreign countries.
The law will enter into force 12 months after its publication.
