On September 19. within the framework of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met the Director General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Tsui Dunyu was held in New York where Dunyuyom fully supported Mirziyoyev's initiative to hold an international conference on food safety in 2023.
According to Norov, Uzbekistan considers FAO to be an important global multilateral platform for achieving the goals of sustainable development.
As a result of joint efforts, FAO's portfolio in Uzbekistan totalled 65 million dollars and included 59 national, regional and global projects. Uzbekistan successfully chaired the 32nd FAO Regional Conference for Europe for the first time in the history of Central Asia. The importance of full implementation of the Circular Program signed between the country and FAO in 2020-2030 to support the implementation of the agricultural development strategy of Uzbekistan was noted.
The Secretary General of FAO highly appreciated the modern development of Uzbekistan and stated that the organization is ready to provide all-round assistance to Uzbekistan in the implementation of joint projects to ensure food security, combat climate change, diversify agriculture, and introduce water-saving technologies.
