Uzbekistan's consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.54% in February 2025, marking the highest monthly inflation rate for this period since 2023, according to the Statistics Agency. In contrast, February 2024 saw a lower monthly inflation rate of 0.32%.
Annual inflation stood at 10.13%, up by 1.78 percentage points from the previous year but lower than 12.23% recorded in 2023.
Food prices rose by 0.6% in February and by 1.4% since the beginning of the year. Annual food inflation reached 2.9%, the lowest in the past five years.
In February, vegetable prices increased by 5.4%, while meat prices rose by 2.1%. Meanwhile, wheat flour prices dropped by 5%, rice by 3.9%, dairy products by 2.4%, and eggs saw a significant decline of 12%.
Tomatoes became more expensive by over 30%, while cabbage and cucumbers rose by more than 17%. Bell peppers increased by 9.2%, lemons by 4.1%, and eggplants by 4%. Whereas, potatoes became nearly 14% cheaper, and banana prices dropped by 4%.
Over the past year, the steepest price increases were recorded for potatoes (+46.8%), cabbage (+37.5%), carrots (+29.4%), sunflower oil (+19.4%), lamb (+18.5%), and beef (+14.8%). On the other hand, eggplants became nearly 50% cheaper, while bell peppers, eggs, lemons, tomatoes, cucumbers, and apples saw price declines ranging from 15% to 30%.
Inflation in the industrial goods sector remained stable at 0.3% for the month and 7.7% over the year. Clothing, footwear, and furniture rose by 0.3%, 0.2%, and 0.1% respectively in February, with annual increases of 5.3%, 4.8%, and 4.4%.

Household appliances prices climbed by 0.3% in the month (5% annually), while medicine prices rose 0.8% in February, marking a significant 25.9% increase over the year. Prices for electronics, including mobile phones, remained unchanged for the month, with a modest 2% increase over the year.
Fuel prices fluctuated, with propane increasing by 4.3% in February (11.3% annually), gasoline rising by 0.2% (2.9% annually), and methane prices remaining unchanged for the month, though up by 20.9% over the year.
The monthly growth rate of prices for paid services hit its highest level since 2021 at 0.8%. Annual service inflation surged to 27.1%, driven primarily by energy tariff hikes.
Catering prices increased by 0.6% in February, while hotel prices rose by 0.1%, with annual growth rates of 12% and 10.3%, respectively. Housing rent climbed by 0.5% in February and 13.5% over the year.
Transportation costs also saw notable increases: train fares rose 4.5% in February (18.6% annually), car transport services increased by 0.9% (12.1% annually), and air ticket prices jumped by 22.4% in February (23.2% annually).
