Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov met with Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), to discuss strengthening cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP), the Prime Minister’s press service reported.

During the meeting in Tashkent, Daren Tang thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for prioritizing the legal protection of intellectual property in Uzbekistan. He also reaffirmed WIPO’s support for the country’s ongoing reforms to enhance the IP sector and its regulatory framework.
The two sides discussed the joint development of a national intellectual property strategy for 2026–2030. A key focus of the talks was improving the skills of specialists working in the field of IP across the country.
Among the initiatives proposed was the creation of a joint master’s degree program in intellectual property at Tashkent State Law University, in collaboration with WIPO. This program aims to build local expertise and strengthen institutional capacity.
The discussions also covered Uzbekistan’s participation in the WIPO Green Program, which supports innovation in the areas of green economy, climate change, and food security. Additionally, plans are underway to implement a joint program to safeguard intellectual property rights for domestically grown agricultural products.
