Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan aim to boost trade turnover to $500mn by 2030, as highlighted in a meeting between Kyrgyz Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev and Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda.

As part of his working visit to Dushanbe, Kasymaliev held a narrow-format discussion with Rasulzoda, where both sides explored ways to deepen bilateral cooperation. The Kyrgyz official conveyed warm greetings from President Sadyr Japarov to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to strengthening good-neighborly relations in Central Asia.

The talks covered a wide range of economic and trade-related topics. Kyrgyzstan expressed readiness to serve as a key link for facilitating the supply of Tajik goods to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market and showed interest in Tajikistan’s experience in agricultural product processing.
Energy collaboration was also a priority, with both parties stressing the importance of accelerating the implementation of the CASA-1000 project. Additionally, they noted the necessity of resuming direct flights between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to further boost economic and people-to-people ties.

As part of his visit, Kasymaliev also toured the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP), the largest hydropower project in Central Asia. Prime Minister Rasulzoda personally guided the Kyrgyz delegation, providing an overview of the construction progress, technical specifications, and the plant’s role in ensuring regional energy security.
Particular attention was paid to studying Tajikistan’s experience in building large-scale hydropower facilities, especially in the context of Kyrgyzstan’s Kambarata HPP-1 project.

"The experience gained during the construction of the Rogun HPP is of great value to us. Studying the technologies and methods used here will certainly help us in the successful implementation of the Kambarata HPP-1 project, which is of strategic importance for the energy security of our country and the entire region," Kasymaliev stated.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two nations in trade, energy, and cultural cooperation. Both parties highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting common cultural heritage among younger generations.
