Uzbekistan's permanent population has surpassed 37.5mn, reaching 37,543,167 people as of January 1, 2025, according to the Statistics Agency.
The demographic breakdown reveals a near-equal distribution between genders, with 18.9mn men and 18.6mn women.
In October 2024, Uzbekistan's permanent population reached 37.4mn, up from 37.13mn in July.
On average, the population grew by 54,500 individuals per month, or approximately 1,800 people daily, showcasing steady growth in the nation's permanent residents.
Earlier, the UNFPA has projected significant demographic expansion for Uzbekistan in the coming decades. By 2028, the country's population is expected to reach 40mn, with further growth to over 50mn by 2050. This growth is anticipated to be primarily driven by natural increase, as birth rates continue to outpace other factors.
Alongside rapid population growth, Uzbekistan is expected to experience substantial shifts in age structure.
While the country remains relatively youthful today, an acceleration in population aging is predicted during the forecast period, signaling changes in social and economic dynamics.
