Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation that will see the UAE’s IFFCO Group export up to 10,000 tons of strategic food products, including vegetable oil and flour, to Uzbekistan annually. The agreement was finalized during the official visit of Uzbekistan’s Head of State to the UAE on January 13.
Key Areas of Collaboration
The memorandum, signed in the presence of Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, outlines several key areas of cooperation. These include efforts to combat counterfeit agricultural products, protect intellectual property, and expand trade volumes. Additionally, the agreement focuses on attracting advanced technologies, developing training programs, and executing industrial projects that will strengthen both countries’ agricultural sectors.
One of the significant provisions of the memorandum involves IFFCO Group’s commitment to exporting up to 10,000 tons of strategic food products, including vegetable oil and flour, to Uzbekistan annually. These exports will help address food security in the country, particularly in high-demand food categories.
Focus on Food Safety and New Projects
In line with the agreement, IFFCO Group will establish a food safety center in Uzbekistan. This initiative is aimed at improving food quality standards and ensuring the safety of food products in both domestic and international markets. Additionally, future projects are set to focus on the production of tomato paste, vegetable oils, and other food products, further enhancing Uzbekistan’s agricultural capacity.
The memorandum also emphasizes the importance of counteracting the counterfeiting of IFFCO products.
Promoting Long-Term Cooperation
During the visit, Minister Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov held a series of meetings that laid the groundwork for ongoing collaboration between the two countries. The discussions are expected to pave the way for initiatives aligned with international standards and long-term agricultural development goals Abdurakhmonov stated in his post.
