The “Sijjak” resort, once belonging to Gulnara Karimova, has officially been handed over to the Trade Unions Federation of Uzbekistan by government resolution.
On December 27, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution transferring the resort to the Uzbekistan Trade Unions Federation. It is now part of the federation’s portfolio of recreational zones and children’s health camps.
The decision aligns with a government directive from March 25, 2023, which approved the transfer of children’s camps and recreational facilities under the federation’s ownership.
History of the “Sijjak” Resort
Located in the Sarbog‘ mahalla of Bostanliq district, Tashkent region, the “Sijjak” resort was confiscated in 2017 following a court ruling by the Tashkent Regional Criminal Court. After the seizure, the resort—complete with its luxurious furnishings—was temporarily managed by the Uzbekistan Triathlon Federation.
In subsequent years, the government attempted to sell the property through public auctions to ensure transparency. Despite being listed for sale multiple times in 2021 and 2022, no buyer was found. The resort, valued at UZS70 bn, spans 5.38 hectares and includes various amenities such as sports facilities, a hotel, three swimming pools, an amphitheater, cottages, and more.
In a significant policy shift, a presidential decree on June 14, 2023, removed “Sijjak” from the list of privatization-eligible properties. Since then, it has been maintained under the balance of Boarding School No. 124.
Key Features of the “Sijjak” Resort
The resort covers a total area of 5.38 hectares, with 4,040 square meters dedicated to buildings and facilities. Its amenities include a hotel, multiple swimming pools, an amphitheater, cottages, and other recreational structures, making it a versatile destination for relaxation and leisure.
