The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan has received a new Airbus H145 D3 helicopter, which will be used by the KazAviaspas search-and-rescue service. The delivery marks a significant milestone in the ongoing modernization of Kazakhstan’s aviation fleet.
The helicopter was assembled at Airbus Helicopters Kazakhstan Engineering, a key facility for the large-scale assembly of Airbus helicopters in the country. This addition supports the Ministry's efforts to enhance its fleet's capacity for various emergency operations.
“The acquisition of the H145 D3 helicopter is an important step in the modernization program for the aviation fleet of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations. In 2024 alone, our aviation has already conducted 2,537 flights for emergency rescue operations, firefighting, and training exercises,” said Alpamys Kamalov, head of KazAviaspas.
The H145 D3 model was chosen for its versatility, designed to handle a broad spectrum of emergency tasks, including search-and-rescue missions, forest and wildfire control, and other critical operations. The ministry has previously received two H145 D3 helicopters in 2022 and 2023.
The D3 version is the most advanced of the H145 model, featuring a five-blade main rotor and an increased payload capacity of 150 kg compared to earlier versions.
Since 2012, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations has been operating several H145 helicopters, all of which were assembled at the Airbus Helicopters Kazakhstan Engineering facility. In addition, the Ministry has used the site to produce light H125 helicopters.
Discussions are also underway with Airbus to explore the adaptation of the medium twin H160 helicopter model, with plans for its future production localization in Kazakhstan.
