The Ministries of Transport of Kazakhstan and Romania have solidified their commitment to cooperation, with a focus on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the Ministry of Transport reported. In a meeting held in Bucharest, Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev and Sorin Grindeanu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, discussed bilateral collaboration in the transport and logistics sector.
Highlighting the growing significance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, Minister Karabayev emphasized Romania's crucial role as a pivotal link between the Black Sea and much of Europe, essential for unlocking the potential of the Middle Corridor.
“We are ready to further strengthen cooperation to mutually increase the volume of transit cargo flows and exchange best practices in the field of multimodal transport and logistics processes. Considering that Kazakhstan and Romania are parties to an international agreement on the development of an international transport corridor, we are also interested in developing cooperation in the field of transportation along this corridor,” Minister Karabayev voiced.
Minister Karabayev also provided insights into the measures taken by Kazakhstan to enhance road infrastructure and improve the speed and quality of transit rail and road transportation from Asia to Europe. Additionally, he extended an invitation to Romanian airlines to operate flights to Kazakhstan under the "open skies" regime.
During the meeting, both ministers signed a crucial Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, solidifying their commitment to collaborative efforts in the field of transport and logistics, particularly within the framework of TITR projects.
In a further step towards enhancing aviation safety, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan and the Romanian Civil Aviation Safety Investigation and Analysis Authority (SIAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of investigating aviation accidents and incidents.
