Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov met with Arkadiy Dobkin, Chairman, CEO, and President of EPAM Systems, one of the largest American technology firms, to discuss collaboration in digitalization, IT education, and the development of Kazakhstan's technological ecosystem.
The discussions addressed modern trends in the global technology market and explored the potential for joint business solutions and research initiatives. Key topics included the establishment of an artificial intelligence laboratory at Kazakhstan's National Center for Artificial Intelligence.
EPAM Systems, a global leader in software development and consulting, has a significant presence in Kazakhstan, operating in over 17 cities with a workforce of nearly 1,000. In 2024, the company exported IT services worth over $40mn through its participation in Astana Hub.
Both parties highlighted the pivotal role of the EPAM Kazakhstan training center, which has trained over 5,000 specialists. Through the Tech Orda program, more than 700 students have gained expertise in Java, Python, and Data Engineering, with 300 more selected for training this year.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has set a strategic goal for Kazakhstan to achieve total digitalization and advance artificial intelligence. Our IT services exports have grown from $30mn to $600mn over five years, but we can achieve more. Collaboration with global leaders like EPAM will help accelerate our progress," said Olzhas Bektenov.
Arkadiy Dobkin praised Kazakhstan's investment-friendly environment and suggested further initiatives to integrate advanced digital technologies into the country's economy.
As an outcome of the meeting, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry was tasked with enhancing support for IT projects to ensure their successful implementation.
