During the 6M23, the United States secured the top position in importing IT services from Kazakhstani companies, constituting 8.71% of the country’s total IT exports, Kursiv reports citing the Ministry of Digital Development of the country.
Ireland and the UAE secured the second and third positions with shares of 8.64% and 3.67%, respectively. Cyprus, Russia, Spain, the Netherlands, the U.K., Germany, and Canada were also noteworthy importers.
Astana Hub, hosting 1,342 Kazakhstani IT businesses, including 377 under foreign ownership, reported a total of $1.3bn, with $497mn from exports. Leading exporters included Epam Kazakhstan, Jusan Mart, 1Fit, Aviata, and oGames. The export for 1H 2023 totaled in $124mn.
In the broader context, Kazakhstan’s IT industry exhibited adaptability, achieving $243.7mn in IT product exports during H1 2023, marking a 2.2-fold increase from 2022. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev aims to position Kazakhstan as an IT country, setting a target of $1bn in IT product exports by 2026 in his September address to the nation.
