The World Boxing Association (WBA) has released its updated rankings for the end of August, featuring eight boxers from Uzbekistan. Notably, three of these athletes hold 1st place in their respective weight divisions, while Israil Madrimov has dropped to 3rd following a recent defeat.
The updated rankings as of the end of August are:
- Hasanboy Dusmatov — (Minimumweight) 1st place, unchanged from last month.
- Murodjon Akhmadaliev — (Super Bantamweight) 1st place, unchanged from last month.
- Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov — (Super Featherweight) 10th place, unchanged from last month.
- Otabek Kholmatov — (Lightweight) 5th place, unchanged from last month.
- Botirzhon Akhmedov — (Super Lightweight) 13th place, unchanged from last month.
- Shakhram Giyasov — (Welterweight) 1st place, unchanged from last month.
- Israil Madrimov — (Super Middleweight) 3rd place (he was the reigning champion last month).
- Bektemir Melikuziev — (Super Middleweight) 6th place (down from 5th place last month).
Earlier, Daryo reported that Madrimov’s defeat came in a fight against Terence Crawford on August 4 in Los Angeles, where at the end of 12 rounds, all three judges gave the victory to the American boxer with scores of 116:112, 115:113, 115:113.
Additionally, the undefeated Shakhram Giyasov fought against Miguel Perra on August 1 in Los Angeles. Giyasov won the 10-round bout by decision, dominating the fight. While one judge ruled in favour of Perra, the other two recognized Giyasov’s performance.
