The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Iran, the khokim (mayor) of Dekhkanabad district in Kashkadarya, and Iranian pistachio expert Javad Heydarpur discussed a new pistachio cultivation project for the region during recent online talks, EastFruit reported.
The meeting explored implementing pistachio plantations in Dekhkanabad. The Uzbek side highlighted the district’s commercial, economic, and social potential, emphasizing its geographical location, transport infrastructure, and investment opportunities. A promising pistachio cultivation project was proposed during the discussions.
In response, the Iranian delegation shared insights from their extensive experience in pistachio farming. Kerman city and region, where Heydarpur operates, are notable pistachio-growing hubs in Iran, producing about 200,000 tons annually, with 10% for domestic use and 90% for export.
An Iranian businessman will visit Dekhkanabad for further negotiations and to inspect potential sites. The Iranian team expressed eagerness to collaborate and visit Kashkadarya soon.
