Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, recently shared his enthusiastic impressions of Central Asia following his visits to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. His insights shed light on the region's economic potential and technological advancement.
In a series of posts, Durov highlighted Kazakhstan as a burgeoning economic powerhouse in Central Asia. He praised the country's vibrant cities such as Astana and Almaty, as well as its natural wonders like Burabai and the Chorin Canyon.
According to Durov, Kazakhstan's allure extends beyond its scenic beauty; it boasts business-friendly policies and tax incentives that attract international companies and startups alike.
"I recently returned from Kazakhstan, the economic powerhouse of Central Asia. I visited the magnificent Astana, lively Almaty, picturesque Burabai, and the beautiful Chorin canyon. Kazakhstan's beauty can only be rivaled by its ambitions," remarked Durov.
He noted the country's significant strides in education and science, citing support for innovative schools and universities as key contributors to its advancement.
Durov also stressed Telegram's growing popularity in Kazakhstan, with over 12.5mn Kazakhs currently using the platform—a 25% increase from the previous year.
"We are proud to serve as the primary communication platform for the Kazakh people," Durov emphasized, underlining Telegram's role in fostering rapid economic and digital transformation in the country.
Turning his attention to Uzbekistan, Durov celebrated the widespread adoption of Telegram, where more than 70% of the population utilizes the platform. He expressed satisfaction that Telegram has become an integral part of Uzbekistan's economic ecosystem and hinted at future visits to Tashkent later in the year.
Durov praised Uzbekistan's modern infrastructure in Tashkent, the scenic landscapes of Eastern Uzbekistan, and the rich historical sites of Bukhara and Samarkand.
In Kyrgyzstan, Durov fondly recalled his experiences exploring the country's breathtaking mountainous terrain.
"I fell in love with the people and nature of Kyrgyzstan. The country is a true hidden gem of Central Asia," he remarked, expressing admiration for the country's natural beauty and the hospitality of its people.
Durov stressed Kyrgyzstan's rapid infrastructure development and noted a 30% increase in Telegram usage among its population over the past four months.
