Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Kazakhstan's First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar convened for a meeting to deliberate on gas supplies and processing, Gazprom announced in a statement.
The discussions, centered on advancing cooperation in the gas sector, encompassed various facets including supply logistics, transportation mechanisms, and gas processing initiatives, as per the official statement released.
Earlier in June, Gazprom solidified agreements with Kazakhstan for the transit of Russian gas towards Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, spanning from 2025 to 2040. The expansion of the Central Asia-Center main gas pipeline system is slated to facilitate this transit, alongside other projects aimed at enhancing Kazakhstan's gas transportation capabilities.
In June 2023, Gazprom inked a two-year gas procurement contract with Uzbekistan, marking a milestone with daily gas supplies amounting to 9 mn cubic meters and yearly deliveries reaching nearly 2.8bn cubic meters.
Commencement of supplies under this agreement commenced on October 7, 2023. Looking ahead, Gazprom plans to ramp up gas exports significantly to Central Asian nations via the Central Asia-Center pipeline system starting November 1, 2025.
In February 2024, Uzbekistan's government outlined plans to modernize its primary gas infrastructure to accommodate a 3.5-fold increase in gas imports from Russia, raising daily volumes from 9mn to 32mn cubic meters.
