Geneva hosts the 65th session of the Assembly of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) from July 9 to 17, where Turkmenistan is actively participating. Led by the head of the State Service for Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Turkmen delegation aims to address significant challenges and opportunities in intellectual property (IP) rights.
The delegation's agenda includes a series of multilateral meetings focusing on the protection of intellectual property, copyright issues, and the promotion of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence. These discussions are crucial as countries worldwide navigate the evolving landscape of digital innovation and global trade.
In parallel, Turkmenistan plans bilateral meetings to discuss priorities outlined in the "Program for the Development of the Intellectual Property System in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025." These sessions are pivotal for enhancing Turkmenistan's IP framework, fostering creativity, and supporting economic development through intellectual property rights.
A highlight of the WIPO Assembly will be events commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO), including a session of its Administrative Council. Turkmenistan's active involvement in EAPO is noteworthy, having been the first country to accede to the Eurasian Patent Convention and currently holding the chairmanship of the Administrative Council. Turkmenistan will host the Administrative Council meeting for the first time in 2025, underscoring its commitment to regional collaboration in intellectual property matters.
