Turkmenistan sees increase in exports to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan
In the first quarter of this year, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan have witnessed notable developments in their bilateral trade relations, reflecting growing economic ties between the two Central Asian nations.
According to the State Statistics Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, the foreign trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan surged to $20mn, marking a robust 36% increase compared to the same period last year.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan to Turkmenistan saw a moderate rise of 5.2%, reaching $1mn. On the other hand, Turkmenistan's imports to Kyrgyzstan experienced a substantial upswing of 38.1%, totaling $19.1mn.
Simultaneously, Uzbekistan has also reported positive trade dynamics with Turkmenistan during the same timeframe. The Uzbek Statistical Agency revealed a 23% uptick in trade turnover between the two countries, amounting to $455.5mn. Turkmenistan's exports to Uzbekistan surged by 36%, totaling $407.5mn.
While Turkmen exports to Uzbekistan flourished, Turkmenistan's imports from Uzbekistan experienced a notable decline of 30%, dropping from $69.2mn to $48mn. This decline positioned Turkmenistan as the seventh-largest trading partner for Uzbekistan.
