Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi of Afghanistan extended an invitation to Uzbekistan for investment in Afghanistan's oil, gas, and copper mining sectors, as it was disclosed by Ariana News.
This discussion took place during a meeting with Bobir Farkhadovich Islamov, the Minister of Mining Industry and Geology of Uzbekistan. Azizi emphasized the strategic advantage for Uzbekistan in investing in the northern oil and gas mines of Afghanistan due to their proximity and ease of access to regional markets.
He highlighted that such investments would not only benefit Afghanistan by developing its mining infrastructure but also provide Uzbekistan with a reliable source of raw materials for its industrial sector.
Responding positively, Islamov expressed interest in forming an investment support agreement between the two nations. He highlighted Uzbekistan’s need for raw materials to feed its two large copper processing factories and noted that this need could be met through the exploration and extraction of copper from Afghanistan.
To move forward with these proposals, it was agreed that an official delegation from Uzbekistan would visit Afghanistan. This delegation will collaborate with the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan to conduct surveys and technical assessments. The aim is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the potential mining projects and outline the steps necessary for their implementation.
