In 1Q24, Uzbekistan exported 375,300 tonnes of vegetables and fruits, marking a 72.5% increase from the previous year, the State Statistics Agency reports. These exports accrued a monetary value of $291.8 mn, demonstrating a y/y growth of 20.7%.
Pakistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan were the top destinations for Uzbekistan’s agricultural exports. Specifically, Pakistan received 26.2% of the total exports, followed by Russia with 25.1%, and Kazakhstan with 10.1%.
The export figures for individual products showed significant variances. Onion exports surged 18.3 times to $25.9 mn, while cabbage exports increased fourfold to $22.2 mn. Conversely, grape exports saw a decline of 56% to $4.7 mn, and mash exports dropped by 37.6% to $16.6 mn.
Tomato exports presented a challenge, with a noticeable decline in 1Q24. Uzbekistan exported 8,000 tons of tomatoes, yielding $8.7 mn in revenue, which represents a 33.3% decrease from the 12,000 tons exported during the same period in 2023. In March 2024 alone, 2,900 tons of tomatoes were exported.
