To bolster the engineering and public utilities sector, the Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kanat Sharlapaev, convened a meeting with a delegation from the People's Republic of China. Led by Ye Maolin, the acting general director of Xinxing Group, the discussions centered around the establishment of a cutting-edge plant dedicated to the production of water supply network products.
The Xinxing Group, comprising four prominent conglomerates in China, boasts a diversified portfolio spanning iron and steel production, mechanical engineering, construction, real estate management, and light industry. Among its subsidiaries, "Xinxing Ductile Iron Pipes" (Xinxing) stands out with an impressive annual volume of 10 mn tons of metal products and 8 mn tons of steel, including a range of diameters from 80 to 3,000 mm amounting to 3 mn tons. Xinxing's products find extensive utility in water supply, wastewater, and heat supply networks.
The groundwork for this venture began earlier this year when representatives from Xinxing conducted a thorough examination of potential production sites, including the Tekeli Mining Processing Complex (TGPC) and the Sokolov-Sarbai Mining Processing Association (SSGPO). This reconnaissance aimed to assess the raw material base necessary for the construction of the proposed pipe plant.
The Chinese company expressed its readiness to invest in building the plant within Kazakhstan's borders, contingent upon assurances for the concurrent development and modernization of utility networks. In response, Minister Sharlapaev affirmed the Kazakh government's commitment to providing the necessary guarantees, including a guaranteed redemption mechanism to support the construction and modernization efforts.
The proposed collaboration signifies a milestone in Kazakhstan's endeavor to enhance its infrastructure and bolster the efficiency of public utilities. By leveraging the expertise and resources of the Xinxing Group, Kazakhstan aims to not only fortify its industrial landscape but also address critical needs in water supply and other essential services.
