The top managers of Türkmenaragatnaşyk (Turkmencommunication) Agency and companies Airbus and Thales Alenia Space (France) have expressed their readiness to cooperate in the field of space technologies.
"Turkmenistan, having become a reliable partner of the largest companies, is ready to actively introduce advanced technologies and promote space research in the region and the world," the agency said in a press release. The meetings were held in Paris as part of an International Roadshow to attract investment in Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector.
Experts told Daryo that last year Airbus delivered two A330-200 P2F freighters to Turkmenistan Airlines, sole national carrier.
In turn, Thales Alenia Space built TürkmenÄlem 52oE, Turkmenistan's first satellite, which was launched in 2015 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA.
Ashgabat plans to launch a second communications satellite to provide environmental monitoring of oil fields, pipelines and refineries. Satellite imagery will also increase the effectiveness of monitoring the progress of transport infrastructure construction and the environmental condition not only of the land, but also of the Caspian shelf.
