Turkmenistan and Germany are discussing the implementation of the roadmap for the development of economic cooperation, signed last November.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, Michael Harms, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy met in Ashgabat with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the local People's Council, and Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister Rashid Meredov.
Berdimuhamedov suggested that the existing potential in advanced technologies, green energy and the construction of inclusive and smart cities should be better exploited. According to the information, Goetzpartners recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a medical cluster in the new city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan.
The two countries are actively cooperating in the medical industry, agriculture, banking, transport and communications. "At the same time, the activities of the joint Turkmen-German working group play an important role."
Experts told Daryo that Ashgabat is interested in acquiring oil and gas equipment, introducing solar and hydrogen energy technologies, modernising fertiliser production and transport infrastructure.
German companies are offered to participate in the implementation of water projects, including the mega-project for the comprehensive modernisation of the infrastructure of the Karakum Canal, which was built under the USSR.
As of 2023, about 200 investment projects and contracts involving German capital worth about $1.6bn have been registered in the country. Man, Siemens, Daimler, Claas, Rohde & Schwarz, DresserRand are present in the local market.
