Turkmenistan and Romania are paying special attention to the creation of the international transport corridor "Caspian Sea - Black Sea", the Turkmenawtoulağlary (Turkmen Road Transport) agency reports.
In this regard, meetings of the Joint Commission on Road Transport and the Working Group on Transport Cooperation were held in Bucharest (Romania). The delegation of Turkmenistan was headed by the head of Turkmenawtoulağlary Guvanchmyrat Akmammedov.
"A high level of interstate cooperation based on the principles of mutual trust and mutual benefit was noted".
According to the information, the two countries are working on the implementation of an intergovernmental agreement between the governments of Turkmenistan, Romania, Georgia and Azerbaijan, which will significantly contribute to the development of international cargo transport and logistics between Central Asia and Europe.
Experts told Daryo that the Romanian port of Constanta could become a transshipment point for cargo destined for the European Union from the Caspian port of Turkmenbashi, as well as from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The supply route involves the use of special containers and goes through the Caspian Sea to Baku (Azerbaijan), then by rail to Batumi or Poti (Georgia, Black Sea region) and from there by sea to Romania.
