The EUROUZ Committee on Healthcare and Life Sciences convened an international roundtable, in collaboration with leading government organizations and European companies, to discuss the development of Uzbekistan's healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Held at the EUROUZ office in Uzbekistan on April 16, the event aimed to deepen cooperation between the private and public sectors in these critical areas and explore the role of European companies in driving sectoral growth.
The roundtable brought together representatives from key stakeholders, including government bodies, analytical centers, parliamentary chambers, and the EU diplomatic corps, along with over 20 European companies. Discussions focused on assessing the current state of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan, identifying opportunities for collaboration with the European Union, and addressing barriers to cooperation.
Z. Vakhidov, Chairman of the EUROUZ Healthcare and Life Sciences Committee, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, "The EUROUZ Committee on Healthcare and Life Sciences has already established itself as a reliable and effective platform for exchanging knowledge, experience, and opinions between government and public organizations in Uzbekistan, and European companies and the expert community."
M. Aslanov, Director of the Center for Progressive Reforms (CPR), underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in ensuring pharmaceutical safety.
He highlighted, "There is an increasing public demand for the prompt resolution of issues related to the safety of pharmaceuticals. The development of public-private partnerships, including through deepening dialogue through platforms such as today's roundtable, leads to obtaining additional feedback for improving the effectiveness of state assessments and determining the bioequivalence of drugs."
E. Tulyakov, Director of the Development Strategy Center of Uzbekistan, emphasized the pivotal role of the private sector in achieving strategic healthcare goals outlined in the 'Uzbekistan-2030' Strategy.
He noted, "The active participation of the private sector in the healthcare system of Uzbekistan is a key element for achieving the strategic goals outlined in the 'Uzbekistan-2030' Strategy."
The roundtable concluded with a commitment to enhancing collaboration between public and private sectors, streamlining regulatory frameworks, and fostering innovation in Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical sector.
