In a stride towards international collaboration in education and research, Samarkand State University (SamSU) has formalized a partnership with Tuscia University, Italy. The memorandum of cooperation was signed following a visit by a delegation led by the Rector of Tuscia University, Stefano Ubertini, to Samarkand State University.
The meeting, which saw the participation of Akmal Akhatov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at SamSU, emphasized various avenues for academic collaboration. Discussions revolved around the establishment of an Italian educational center within SamSU's premises, facilitating joint educational programs spanning undergraduate and graduate levels.
Plans are underway for the exchange of professors, teachers, and students, alongside the organization of short-term summer school courses aimed at enriching academic experiences.
Beyond educational initiatives, both institutions are poised to engage in joint scientific research endeavors on contemporary issues and the development of collaborative scientific projects. An agreement has been reached to host "Tuscia Days" at Samarkand State University in June 2024, fostering cultural exchange and furthering academic ties.
Tuscia University ranked 601st in the international ranking of Times Higher Education, boasts a distinguished reputation, particularly excelling in the fields of agrobiotechnology, fruit and viticulture, climate change, and forestry. Leveraging Tuscia University's expertise, SamSU aims to augment its academic offerings and research capabilities, enriching the educational landscape in Uzbekistan.
