To strengthen bilateral and regional ties, the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) and the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies (KazISS) engaged in a constructive discussion on enhancing their partnership, IICA reported.
The virtual meeting, spearheaded by Javlon Vakhabov, Director of IICA, and Yerkin Tukumov, Director of KazISS, highlighted the burgeoning relationship between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan while exploring avenues for collaborative growth.
The talks commenced with both parties acknowledging the steady advancement of Uzbek-Kazakh relations, characterized by strategic partnership and alliance. The discourse underscored the robust cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, transportation, and industrial collaboration. The goal of elevating trade turnover from $4.4bn to $10bn, as set by the respective heads of state, remained at the forefront of their agenda.
A pivotal aspect of the dialogue centered on the significance of joint endeavors between IICA and KazISS in fostering bilateral and regional development. The Cooperation Agreement inked between the institutions on December 2, 2021, in Astana laid a solid foundation for collaborative initiatives aimed at addressing key socio-economic challenges.
Moreover, deliberations encompassed the forthcoming VII Central Asian Expert Forum scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan. This annual conference, initiated in 2018 by leading analytical institutes in collaboration with the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, serves as a crucial platform for intellectual exchange and strategic discourse.
Vakhabov and Tukumov reaffirmed their commitment to deepen research collaboration. Both institutions expressed their intent to formulate a comprehensive program for 2024, encompassing joint initiatives, roundtable discussions, and knowledge-sharing endeavors.
Established by presidential decree on June 16, 1993, KazISS stands as a prominent state forecasting and analytical institution. Ranked among the top three think tanks in the Caucasus, Central and South Asia, KazISS plays a pivotal role in providing analytical insights and expert support to Kazakhstan's domestic and foreign policy endeavors.
