President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan ratified amendments to the 2000 protocol agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, concerning mutual travel conditions for citizens, official presidential website of Kazakhstan informed on April 6.
Under the updated agreement, citizens of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan can enter, leave, transit, and move through the territory of the other country for up to 30 calendar days, regardless of their place of permanent residence. This adjustment aims to facilitate travel, promote tourism, and enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.
The implementation of these amendments was discussed in January 2023, allowing both countries sufficient time to complete internal procedures necessary for the smooth transition to the new regulations.
Earlier Daryo reported that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan met in Khiva, Uzbekistan on April 5 to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between their respective countries.
