In a move to bolster climate education among Uzbekistan's youth, the National Climate Center and the Climate Science organization have signed a memorandum to localize the ClimateScience.org educational platform. The agreement inked on March 11 during the Ministry of Ecology's presentation of its youth engagement strategy on climate issues.
The memorandum was signed by Suna Park, adviser to the Minister of Ecology and director of the Ministry's National Climate Center, and Michael Backland, head of the international education platform on climate change "Climatescience."
Michael Backland stressed the importance of climate education, noting the close relationship between climate and education. He cited UNESCO's projection that by 2022, 70% of humanity will understand essential climate concepts, highlighting the need to make scientific information readily accessible to the public.
The ClimateScience platform, endorsed by institutions such as the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, has played a crucial role in bridging the gap between scientific research and public understanding of climate change. With a readership exceeding 2.5 mn individuals, the platform has effectively disseminated knowledge about the urgency of addressing climate challenges.
