Former Kyrgyz customs service deputy head and oligarch Raimbek Matraimov has been extradited from Baku to Bishkek, as reported by Tengrinews. Matraimov was transported to Bishkek via a government plane, accompanied by Tilek Matraimov, former deputy director of "Oshgaz" enterprise, and three other brothers - Tilek, Ruslan, and Islambek.
The Kyrgyz State Security Committee has disclosed that Matraimov had close ties with the late "thief in law" Kamchibek Kolbayev and allegedly orchestrated a criminal network among customs officials and government personnel.
Matraimov faces charges related to "Illegal Deprivation of Liberty" and "Laundering of Criminal Proceeds". In late January 2024, Matraimov was placed on the wanted list by the State Committee for National Security, with his substantial real estate assets, valued in billions of soums, seized and transferred to the state account.
