In an interview with the Kyrgyz TV channel ElTR, Bakhadyr Bakhautdinov, the head of the Altyn Tulpar Unaa Kurulush project, revealed that the first car at the Uzavtosanoat automobile plant in Kyrgyzstan is slated to be produced by the end of May.
The joint project between Uzavtosanoat and Altyn Tulpar Unaa Kurulush aims to kick off the first stage of operations by the end of May, with the plant spanning a total area of 18,000 square meters.
Bakhautdinov elaborated, stating, "The first stage will be assembly with further localization. The first car will come out with the opening [of the plant]. By the end of May, we plan to release the first car - Chevrolet passenger cars and Isuzu commercial vehicles."
The decision to organize car production in Kyrgyzstan was made during a business forum between the two countries on January 27, with Uzavtosanoat partnering with the DT Technik company for the joint venture.
During its inaugural year of operation, the plant aims to produce 10,000 cars using the large-unit assembly method. Subsequently, production is expected to ramp up to 30,000 cars, expanding into small-unit production with the localization of certain components.
Construction of the plant commenced in mid-May of the previous year in the Chui region, a project hailed as "strategically important for both countries" by Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov.
However, Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, Daniyar Amangeldiev, announced a six-month postponement of the plant's launch due to adverse weather conditions. Initially planned to debut by the end of June, the first products are now anticipated to be presented after this delay.
