The "Turkmen Logistics Association" has signed a Memorandum of cooperation with the "Afanasy Nikitin" Association (Russia), reports Turkmenistan Habarlar Portaly.
The parties plan to support each other in the development of forwarding business and create a unified logistics structure for the export of agricultural products from the Volga and Caspian regions to the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean.
"Afanasy Nikitin" is implementing a programme to support infrastructure projects of the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC), which Turkmenistan officially joined last year.
An intergovernmental agreement on the creation of the ITC was signed by Russia, Iran and India in 2000.
Experts told Daryo that of the three major routes identified in the ITC development strategy, two pass through Turkmenistan.
They are the Trans-Caspian - across the Caspian Sea by sea and river from the ports of Astrakhan and Makhachkala along the Volga to Turkmen and Iranian ports. And the eastern one - through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan by road and rail.
