In a bid to foster educational opportunities for Uzbekistani youth, the "El-Yurt Umidi" Foundation is embarking on collaborative efforts with higher education institutions in Saxony, Germany, the foundation reported.
Spearheaded by Javakhir Akhmedov, Deputy Executive Director of the Fund, a meeting was convened at the Foundation's headquarters to formalize partnerships with Saxony universities. Among the attendees were department heads from the Foundation and Zlikha Tileuova, the head of the office representing Saxony universities in Uzbekistan.
The primary objective of this gathering was to explore avenues of cooperation between the "El-Yurt Umidi" Foundation and Saxony's esteemed higher education establishments. Tileuova's office serves as a vital hub for Uzbekistani youth aspiring to pursue studies in Saxony universities. It aims to channel the attention of Uzbekistani youth towards educational programs in various fields offered by Saxony universities, particularly focusing on technical disciplines where Uzbekistan has a pressing demand for skilled professionals such as engineering, architecture, computer science, mining, and mechanical engineering.
During the meeting, a concise overview of ten prominent Saxony universities with which cooperation relations are being established was provided:
- Dresden Technical University (Technische Universität Dresden)
- University of Leipzig (Universität Leipzig)
- Chemnitz University of Technology (Technische Universität Chemnitz)
- Technical University Freiberg Mining Academy (Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg)
- Mittweida Institute (Hochschule Mittweida)
- Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau (WHZ)
- Sittau/Görlitz Institute (Die Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz)
These institutions offer a diverse array of programs spanning engineering, mathematics, economics, social sciences, and more. Saxony's universities possess expertise in technical fields crucial for Uzbekistan's development.
Furthermore, discussions centered on the allocation of scholarships to deserving candidates for various fields of study at Saxony universities. Scholarship holders are encouraged to pursue disciplines ranging from engineering to telecommunications, fostering academic excellence and cross-cultural exchange.
In a forward-looking gesture, Akhmedov proposed the organization of a webinar titled "Education Opportunities at Universities in Saxony" targeted at prospective students intending to commence their studies in 2024. This initiative garnered enthusiastic support from Tileuova, signifying a collaborative commitment towards facilitating educational pathways for Uzbekistani youth.
