LOT Polish Airlines has announced the launch of regular flights connecting Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and Warsaw, Poland, Uzbekistan Airports reported. The inaugural passenger flight is slated for March 14, 2024, marking a milestone in air travel connectivity between the two regions.
Operating three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the route will be serviced by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, offering travelers both convenience and comfort. Furthermore, plans are underway to introduce an additional flight on Tuesdays during April and May, with return journeys to Warsaw scheduled for Wednesdays, further enhancing accessibility between the two destinations.
Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, emphasizing its benefits for both transit passengers and those whose final destination is Warsaw. He highlighted the airline's extensive route network spanning Scandinavia, Western, and Central Europe, offering seamless connections in under four hours.
“We have developed a schedule that is convenient both for transit passengers choosing Warsaw as a transfer point and for those whose destination is the capital of Poland. Those traveling in transit through Warsaw will be able to take advantage of LOT Polish Airlines’ wide route network in Scandinavia, Western and Central Europe with convenient connections in less than 4 hours,” Michał Fijoł shared.
For Uzbekistan, the launch of flights to Warsaw signifies a pivotal moment in bolstering air links with Europe post-pandemic. Javlonbek Umarkhojaev, the head of Uzbekistan Airports, underscored the importance of this collaboration, noting that LOT Polish Airlines will be the first European carrier to offer flights to European cities for Uzbek citizens, and vice versa. This initiative is poised to catalyze tourism development on both ends, fostering cultural exchange and economic growth.
To celebrate the inaugural flight, a comprehensive two-day program has been curated in collaboration with the Tourism Committee, welcoming Polish journalists, bloggers, influencers, and tour operators. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Uzbekistan's rich culture, architecture, and cuisine, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation.
