President signs decree to establish tourist recreational zone in Samarkand

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a groundbreaking decree establishing the “Okhalik - Okbuyro - Mironkul” tourist and recreational zone in the Samarkand region with a service life of 30 years. This strategic initiative aims to unlock the region’s immense potential, attract visitors, and bolster economic growth, Lex.uz reports.

Zone Overview:

1. Geographical Scope:

   • The “Okhalik - Okbuyro - Mironkul” zone will span across several picturesque neighborhoods in the Samarkand district:
     • Urta Okhalik: Covering an expansive 1,697 hectares.
     • Okbuyro: Encompassing 414 hectares.
     • Mironkul: Extending over a vast 2,545 hectares.

2. Thrilling Tourism Offerings:

   • Mountain and Extreme Activities: The zone will cater to adventure enthusiasts with an array of heart-pounding experiences:
     • Ziplining: Soar through the rugged landscape.
     • Bungee Jumping: Take the leap of a lifetime.
     • Zorbing: Roll down hills in giant transparent spheres.
     • Cable Cars: Traverse scenic vistas with ease.
     • Hot Air Ballooning: Drift above Samarkand’s ancient wonders.

Earlier, it was reported that the Samarkand Tourism Forum 2024 (STF’24), a major event aimed at developing tourism services and finding new solutions, is set to take place on February 9-10 in the historic city of Samarkand.
