Abdurakhmon Makhmudov, the newly appointed Consul General of Uzbekistan, has recently arrived in St. Petersburg, Dunyo reports. Makhmudov, 37, brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge from his previous roles in the Tashkent City Criminal Court and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Educational Background and Career
Makhmudov is a graduate of Namangan State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and Tashkent State Law University, where he completed his master’s degree. His career in the legal and diplomatic fields is extensive and varied. From 2019 to 2023, he served as the first secretary and then counselor at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ukraine.
Replacing Alisher Babayev
Makhmudov replaces Alisher Babayev, who served as the Consul General in St. Petersburg from 2019 to 2024. The Consulate General’s district includes the Northwestern District of Russia, encompassing 11 subjects of the Russian Federation.
Looking Ahead
With Makhmudov’s appointment, a new chapter begins for the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg. His extensive experience and dedication to his work will undoubtedly contribute to the strengthening of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.
Earlier, it was reported that Rahmatulla Nazarov, a seasoned diplomat and former Senate member, has been appointed as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus.
