Rahmatulla Nazarov, a seasoned diplomat and former Senate member, has been appointed as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus, Dunyo reports.
A Glimpse into Nazarov’s Career
Nazarov, 53, is a graduate of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. He began his career in commercial structures in Tashkent in 1995.
In 1997, Nazarov joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an attaché of the contract department. Over the years, he has held various positions within the ministry and served in embassies in Belgium and Kyrgyzstan. He also served as the national coordinator of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
In recent years, Nazarov was the first director of the Center for Public Diplomacy of the SCO in Tashkent at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. He was also elected a member of the Senate.
Transition of the Ambassadorship
Nazarov was appointed to replace Nasirjon Yusupov, who headed the embassy from 2018 to 2021. Prior to his appointment to Belarus, Nazarov served as an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The embassy in Minsk was opened in 2018. Since 2021, Nazarov has been working as an embassy adviser and Chargé d’affaires in Minsk.
