First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Tawar Al Kuwari met with Turkmen Ambassador Myratgeldy Seyitmammedov to discuss issues related to holding a joint business forum.
Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry said that "despite the dynamically developing relations between the two countries, trade relations have great potential and resources".
Experts told Daryo that Ashgabat is inviting Qatari investors to explore opportunities in developing the energy, food and textile sectors of the national economy.
The Turkmen government had previously signed a memorandum of understanding with Al Qamra Holding to finance potential projects in the local market.
Turkmenistan is interested in the participation of major Qatari financial and investment structures in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the construction of which began in December 2015.
In addition, in 2011 Doha signed the Ashgabat Agreement on the formation of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar Transit and Transport Corridor. This project aims to provide a stable link between the Central Asian countries and the ports of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
