The Consul General of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don, Burkhan Alikulov, reported a substantial increase in trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia, amounting to $9.8bn by the conclusion of 2023, TASS reported. This information was disclosed during the annual reception for heads of diplomatic institutions and consular corps accredited in the Rostov region.
Trade turnover growth exceeds 5%
Alikulov conveyed that the trade turnover between the two nations witnessed significant growth, surpassing 5% compared to the figures recorded in 2022. In 2022, the trade turnover stood at $9.3bn, indicating a marked escalation in economic interactions.
Alikulov highlighted the potential for positive outcomes in the relationship between Uzbekistan and the Rostov region. He pointed out that representatives from the Rostov region visited Uzbekistan thrice in the past year, fostering a conducive environment for economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties.
"We have a legal basis; an agreement between Jizzakh region and Rostov region on interregional cooperation has been signed, providing a solid foundation for the development of our economic relations, cultural and humanitarian ties, and tourism," Alikulov emphasized.
