The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov, engaged in a telephone conversation on January 24 with Sultanbai Raev, the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), MFA reported.
During the conversation, both parties delved into the current status and future prospects of comprehensive cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the TURKSOY framework. The talks highlighted the successful collaboration between the nations in the realm of cultural diplomacy throughout 2023.
Among the notable achievements discussed was the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY in Tashkent. The event saw the presentation of the "Pearls of Turkic Literature," a collection of 100 volumes celebrating the rich literary heritage of Turkic-speaking nations.
Both Deputy Minister Nurimbetov and Secretary General Raev expressed their satisfaction with the positive outcomes of joint international events held last year and conveyed their commitment to further strengthening collaboration. They emphasized the importance of joint initiatives in promoting and popularizing the diverse cultures of Turkic countries on the global stage.
TURKSOY: A Cultural Beacon
Established in 1993, TURKSOY, often referred to as the UNESCO of the Turkic World, has played a pivotal role in fostering cultural ties among Turkic nations. Its founding agreement was signed by the Ministers of Culture of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Türkiye.
Over the years, TURKSOY has expanded its membership to include the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and autonomous republics of the Russian Federation, namely Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Sakha, Tyva, and Khakassia. Additionally, the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Moldova) joined TURKSOY as a member state with observer status.
Working under the auspices of the Heads of States of its member countries, TURKSOY has been dedicated to fostering brotherhood and solidarity among Turkic peoples. The organization actively promotes and preserves the common Turkic culture, ensuring its transmission to future generations while introducing it to the global community.
