Commencing from January 2024, a set of stringent border control measures at specific checkpoints along the Belarusian-Russian border has led to disruptions in the passage of third-country nationals, particularly impacting international cargo transportation. The Ministry of Transport in Uzbekistan confirmed the implementation of these regulations, restricting entry and exit through the checkpoints "Krasnaya Gorka," "Rudnya," and "Krasniy Kamen."
Drivers engaged in the transportation of international cargo, who happen to be citizens of a third country (including member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States or CIS), are now obligated to enter and exit the Russian Federation exclusively through designated international border control points.
The swift implementation of these measures has resulted in a backlog of trucks, predominantly those driven by citizens of third countries, notably Uzbekistan, at the Russia-Belarus border. Recognizing the severity of the situation, discussions ensued at the highest levels, involving the leadership of the transport ministries of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Belarus, and the Russian Federation, Ministry of Transport reported.
Earlier Daryo reported Russia's Federal Service for Control in the Transport Sector and Uzbekistan's Transport Control Inspection, under the Ministry of Transport, have formalized a memorandum to enhance collaboration in road and railway transport. The agreement was signed by Jamshid Karimov and Viktor Basargin.
