Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov, hosted a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic, Musa Jamanbaev, on January 8, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported. The discussions underscored the positive dynamics of the relationship between the two nations, emphasizing principles of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration, reflecting on the successful implementation of agreements reached at the highest levels. The conversation delved into various projects spanning industry, energy, agriculture, water management, and transportation, highlighting the diverse nature of their bilateral cooperation.
An exchange of views took place on the continuation and strengthening of regional dialogue, emphasizing multilateral platforms for increased interaction. The significance of comprehensive and thorough preparations for upcoming events at various levels was also emphasized during the meeting.
Earlier reports from Daryo highlighted Uzbekistan as the largest importer of Kyrgyzstan’s gasoline, with a notable 3.1 mn liters imported at a price of KGS 37.2 ($0.42) per liter, totaling KGS 116.5mn ($1.3mn). This trend aligns with data from 2021, indicating Uzbekistan's substantial import of petroleum gas from Kyrgyzstan.
In a notable development, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are poised to launch joint production of 12 car models in 2024, marking a significant milestone in their economic cooperation. Financed by the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, the project signifies the commitment to strengthening economic ties between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. The fund, established for this purpose, aims to modernize and develop the economies of both countries by financing priority mutually beneficial investment projects.
