A collaborative effort to establish an Uzbek-Turkish jewelry factory in the Fergana region is underway, the press service of the regional administration reports. The initiative was discussed during a meeting between the regional khokim, Khairullo Bozorov, local entrepreneur Ulugbek Abdurahimov, and Turkish partners Ali Uyanik and Jezmi Shen.
The plan involves the launch of a small enterprise within the next two months, utilizing an available building. Simultaneously, construction of the new plant facility will commence, aligning with the timeline for the delivery of essential equipment.
Over the course of two years, the company aims to generate more than 300 permanent jobs, contributing to employment opportunities in the region. The estimated total cost of the project stands at $10mn. The primary focus of the factory will be the production of silver jewelry, catering to both domestic and international markets. Additionally, there are intentions to establish a research department and a vocational training center within the facility.
This initiative aligns with the broader national strategy outlined by the President of Uzbekistan, who directed the creation of jewelry complexes throughout the country in 2024. The President emphasized the potential of the jewelry trade as a means to boost tourist influx. Under the proposed plan, modern jewelry complexes will lease premises and equipment for a duration of seven years, fostering an environment conducive to the growth of this sector.
