Baghdad hosts inaugural Uzbekistan-Iraq political consultations

Baghdad played host to the inaugural round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Iraq, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported. The meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, saw the Uzbekistani delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhromjon Aloyev and the Iraqi delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom.

The discussions, spanning a wide array of sectors, emphasized the commitment of both nations to bolstering their bilateral relations. One of the notable outcomes of the consultations was the expressed commitment to facilitate engagements between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Iraq. The parties also expressed mutual interest in establishing a joint Business Council, signaling a step toward enhanced economic collaboration.

In a broader context, the international and regional agenda was addressed during the consultations, reflecting the shared commitment to stay attuned to global developments and collaborate on matters of mutual interest.

Earlier Daryo reported that prior to the official consultations, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhromjon Aloyev, had a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Fuad Hussein. The aim of this prelude meeting was to lay the groundwork for a strengthened partnership between the two nations and explore avenues for increased collaboration across various sectors.
