In a recent development, Uzbekistan Airports announced a leadership change at Tashkent International Airport, named after Islam Karimov. According to an order issued by the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports on November 22, Jasur Polatov has been appointed as the acting director of Tashkent International Airport.
Jasur Polatov brings a wealth of experience to his new role. A graduate of the Russian University of Economics named after Plekhanov, Polatov initiated his career in aviation as an agent for the organization of air transport at Uzbekistan Airways. He held this position until 2019. Following this, he continued his professional journey at the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, specializing in airport development and ground support.
In 2023, Polatov joined Uzbekistan Airports and served as an adviser to the chairman of the board, focusing on cooperation with international organizations. Subsequently, he assumed the role of acting director at Bukhara Airport.
The leadership change comes as Uzbekistan Airports undergoes strategic adjustments in its management. Shukur Goipov has been overseeing the international airport in the capital since December 2022. However, the press service of Uzbekistan Airports unexpectedly deleted the announcement about Jasur Polatov's appointment from its Telegram channel, leaving the reason undisclosed.
Earlier Daryo reported that Rano Juraeva, formerly the acclaimed Chairperson of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports, was ousted from her position on August 7, garnering widespread support.
