Private air carrier Air Samarkand has marked a significant milestone by receiving its first Airbus A330-300 aircraft, a move that is set to enhance its capabilities and expand its routes. The airline plans to embark on a new era of operations, connecting passengers to destinations in Southeast Asia, Turkey, China, and the Middle East.
The company's press service confirmed the arrival of the Airbus A330-300 at Samarkand International Airport on November 2. This aircraft, boasting a spacious interior with a capacity for 277 passengers, is capable of covering flight distances of more than 11,000 kilometers. It's noteworthy that the aircraft was previously operated by Taiwanese China Airlines before being acquired by Air Samarkand.
The Airbus A330-300, which originally rolled off the production line in Toulouse in 2010, has now become part of Air Samarkand's growing fleet. In the coming days, the airline is also expected to receive a medium-haul Airbus A321-200, further expanding its operational capabilities.
By the end of 2023, Air Samarkand's fleet will consist of five aircraft, marking a steady and deliberate expansion since the carrier's establishment last December. The airline initially outlined plans to operate with two medium-haul Airbus A320 aircraft in a full economy configuration, with a focus on connecting 14 cities in Russia and Asian countries, using Samarkand International Airport as its primary base.
Looking ahead, Air Samarkand is poised for a busy autumn-winter season as it prepares to launch regular and charter flights from Samarkand to several destinations across Southeast Asia, Turkey, China, and the Middle East. This move aligns with the airline's vision of offering diverse and attractive travel options to its customers.
