Uzbekistan is set to make significant strides in its IT industry, with ambitious plans to increase IT exports to $5bn by 2030, Farkhad Ibragimov, the CEO of Uzbekistan's IT Park reports. The IT Park, a state-backed initiative, is aimed at propelling the growth of the business process outsourcing (BPO) and IT outsourcing sector in the country.
Ibragimov, addressing the Uzbekistan Outsourcing Forum, highlighted the factors that position Uzbekistan as a promising IT destination. A young and burgeoning population, robust infrastructure, and government support programs contribute to the country's readiness to pursue this goal.
"With a population of 36 million and an average age of 29, Uzbekistan's young and growing population is ideally positioned to succeed in the IT sphere. 99% of the country has internet access, and more than 25,000 students graduate from university annually," Ibragimov stated.
The IT Park provides numerous incentives for companies operating within Uzbekistan, including tax exemptions, free office space, and grants for staff training. Additionally, it offers programs to assist companies in exporting their IT services.
Presently, Uzbekistan hosts over 1,400 IT Park resident companies, employing around 24,000 professionals. Ibragimov envisions that by 2030, the country's IT outsourcing sector will see more than 300,000 professionals employed by 10,000 companies.
