On October 25, the second day of ICT Week took place in the capital of Uzbekistan, with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The exhibition was organized by the IT Education Association, as reported by Daryo.uz correspondents.
The primary objective of ICT Week is to provide a platform for showcasing the achievements of modern technologies and innovations. It encompasses a series of events, including summits, forums, business meetings, job fairs, and more.
Additionally, it aims to be a significant step toward achieving the goals of the "Digital Uzbekistan-2030" strategy. The Forum's program committee includes representatives from leading IT companies, industry experts, and international speakers. Forum sponsors include companies such as Huawei, ZTE Silver, and Ucell, with partners such as Uzinfocom, Uztelecom, IT Park, The World Bank, Coursera, and HP.
The second day of the forum featured presentations in English, Uzbek, and Russian by various leading companies and organizations, including Aloqa Bank, Tashkent One-Stop Center, Uzinfocom, and many others. The event also showcased the participants of ICT Expo Uzbekistan 2023, announcing the winners of the President Tech Award for the best startup in the "Special Direction - Hackathon" category.
The official campaign launch took place on October 25 at 11:00 am (UZT) during the ICT Week Uzbekistan Forum held at the Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan, the largest exhibition venue in the region.
The event was inaugurated by Rustam Karimzhanov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies. After introductory remarks and presentations by representatives of foreign organizations, official announcements and presentations followed. These included presentations on artificial intelligence, the new version of the my.gov.uz website, the capabilities and prospects of the myid ecosystem, the student card from the bank of communication, the Face ID payment system, the IPO launch of "Uzbektelecom," and the presentation of a new startup development ecosystem.
Aloqa Bank
Aloqa Bank presented a convenient new project related to student cards. Their Student Card Development Plan includes implementing the project in all universities, offering special overdraft loans for students, introducing a student virtual card with various bonuses, integrating with municipal programs (especially providing preferential access to museums and cultural sites), expanding the network of partners both in Uzbekistan and abroad, and automatically refunding 50% of costs upon receipt of international certificates.
Uztelecom
Uztelecom showcased unique convergent services during ICT Week 2023. These services bring together key offerings such as home internet, mobile communication, television, and home phones. Anvar Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of AK "Uzbektelecom" for commercial matters, emphasized the company's simplified solution, which allows subscribers to connect multiple services (home phone, interactive television, fixed internet, mobile communication) and manage them through a single account. This eliminates the need to remember different payment deadlines or maintain multiple accounts.
An innovative service that drew significant visitor attention was SIM Komat, which enables instant mobile network access without the need for document submission. The use of Face ID for identity verification significantly streamlines the process of acquiring SIM cards, eliminating unnecessary formalities.
UZTELECOM also announced the introduction of a new integrated service, "Video Surveillance and Intercom," which enhances the country's safety and comfort levels.
The company also offers industry solutions for entrepreneurs based on 5G technology. As an example, in an agriculture project, UZTELECOM provides farmers with the ability to track essential information, such as field and crop humidity, air temperature, and soil quality, using remote sensors. This technology helps increase crop yields, plan irrigation more efficiently, and create harvest forecasts.
To simplify the self-service process, a mobile application stand for MyUZTELECOM was presented. The MyUZTELECOM mobile app offers government services, subscription to "Yandex.Plus," user identification through facial recognition (MyID), and CashBack services.
The CEO and Founder of Portfolio Investments LLC, Munir Yakubov, listed the reasons for investing in Uztelecom, which include future growth sources (gadgets and digital payments), the expansion of broadband lines for households, the deployment of a 5G telecommunications network, and the introduction of additional services (IPTV, Cloud, and SaaS services).
Currently, only privileged securities of "Uzbektelecom" are traded on the Tashkent Stock Exchange. The telecommunications operator is among the 40 companies whose shares are planned for broad public offering as part of the "People's IPO" program. "Uzbektelecom" has registered an additional share issuance from the authorized capital for IPO placement, totaling 5,542,046 shares. The subscription campaign is expected to conclude by the end of 2023, with the issuance estimated to range between 33 and 55 billion sum.
Mobiuz
In 2023, Mobiuz showcased innovative technologies at ICTExpo 2023, including VoWiFi and Easy Macro.
VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi) is a technology that allows calls over the internet. It uses Wi-Fi routers as the base station for calls, particularly in areas with poor cellular network signal reception, such as indoors, in high-rise buildings, densely populated areas, and during adverse weather conditions.
Easy Macro comprises compact base stations that facilitate the rapid deployment of cellular communication, increase network capacity, and provide subscribers with a strong signal. Easy Macro equipment is compact, lightweight, and unobtrusive.
Visitors to ICTEXPO 2023 had the opportunity to witness VoWiFi technology in action and learn about the Easy Macro base station. The company's booth also offered the connection of attractive phone numbers, advantageous operator tariff plans, and consultations on all aspects of mobile communication during the exhibition.
